CAN/COULD
1- usati per indicare "abilità " (es: I can read English=posso/so leggere in inglese) 1a- per il futuro, in questo caso, si usa WILL BE ABLE TO (es: I will be able to speak English in a few months= saprò/potrò, parlare inglese in pochi mesi); per il passato si usa il COULD 1b- usi il COULD se vuoi esprimere il concetto nel condizionale (Es: You could get a better job if you spoke English= potresti trovare un lavoro migliore se parlassi inglese) 1c- puoi usare il COULD HAVE+ PARTICIPIO PASSATO per dire che qualcuno poteva fare qualcosa ma non l'ha fatto (es: You could have helped me= potevi aiutarmi) 2- per esprimere possibilià o probabilità (es: I don't think the car can be repaired= non penso che l'auto possa essere riparata), anche per esprimere qualcosa di tipico (es: Scotland can be very warm in September=La Scozia può aver un bel clima mite a Settembre) 2a- per esprimere scelte e opportunità (es: I don't know how to say this, I can ask to him= non so come dire questa cosa, posso chiederglielo) 2b- per esprimere future possibilità usi in MAY/MIGHT (es: we may go camping this summer= potremmo andare in campeggio questa estate) - puoi usare queste due forme anche per chiedere un permesso, ma sono più formali del can. -------------------- |

Can si usa per:
- abilità "I can sing" - permessi "Dad said I can stay up till late" - richieste "Can I have a pen?" - possibilità "You can choose either this or that" - obblighi/proibizioni "Students can't access the teacher's PCs" - suggerimenti "We can go for a walk" - deduzioni "He can't be her husband, he's too old" May si usa per: - chiedere permessi "May I leave early tonight?" - richieste "May I have my book back?" - possibilità "We may be back at lunchtime" - obblighi/proibizioni "Drink may not be consumed in the library" Penso sia così ma non sono sicuro al 100%. Non vale mi hai anticipato Mattia . |
